The DSA524 is basically a digital storage oscilloscope that outputs a video signal only.
The video signal can be read by any oscilloscope with a bandwith of 5 MHz or more.
Therefore if you already have an old scope, this would be a great upgrade:
- it's a sampling oscilloscope
- it will sample rare events after a trigger, with a pre-trigger delay of -40 divs and post-trigger delay of +9999 divs
- the scope can calculate the average of a signal with N up to 255, so you can recover signals that normally would be buried in the noise
- it has got autoset for quick setup
- you can save 16 non-volatile indexed waveform memories with a memory of 1K words each
- multiplication of traces, for instance to calculate power
- it has got a cursor to measure voltage and time on a digital on-screen readout
- it has got a good timing section
- you can download the samples to your pc via serial port (link provided below).
- you can use the serial port to control all functionality of the oscilloscope, for instance for automated test setups
