The DDE51 is a stand-alone Dolby Digital encoder that has additional Synapse bus outputs to enable the ADD-ON functionality. It can basically replace the DP569 from Dolby Laboratories, with the advantage of the space saving infrastructure of Synapse, the redundant power supply, hot swappable card exchange and the optional SNMP control The DDE51 can handle 8 presets that contain metadata and bitrate settings (A through H). The input capability of the DDE51 in the audio domain is nominal 48kHz sampling of up to 24 bits resolution. The output is a Dolby Digital stream up to 5.1 channels multiplexed into a 48kHz carrier. Key FeaturesThe Key features of the DDE51 are as follows: • Full 8 channel independent input selection • Built-in generator per mono channel • Input gain control per individual mono channel • Input phase control per individual mono channel • Input offset delay for phase compensation (0 to 1300 ms in 1 msintervals) • Auxiliary output can source a second AC3 stream or a copy ofeach input • Up to 18 AC3 pro encoders in 4RU • Metadata input • 56kBit/s to 640kBit/s encoding bitrate • 5.1 (3/2) and 2.0 (2/0) modes • Status information of each input (including clipping) • Encoder OK status reporting • AES/EBU in and outputs on 75 Ohm BNC according toAES3ID-1995 • Uses BPL08 connector panel LatencyThe overall latency of the DDE51 has been 200ms, but has recentlybeen decreased to 187ms. In the future this latency can be adjusted withthe (currently not working) Latency parameter. Until this function becomes available you can adjust the delay of the input to compensate.
