The 1005 DVB/ASI MediaPort is an interface adapter for MPEG transportstreams and control. The 1005 supports only transport streamson DVB/ASI inputs and outputs, and facilitates storage and playback ofcomplete transport streams. It is also optimized to ingest and outputtransport streams without the need for de-multiplexing andre-multiplexing elementary streams. Ideal applications for the 1005 aretime delayof complete transport streams, or NVOD (Near Video on Demand)applications in which a complex transport stream can represent multiplestarttimes of a specific program. The 1005 is essentially a packetized bitrecorder, accepting standard MPEG transport packets and recording them with no interpretation or content manipulation. Streams are played outthrough the MediaPorts exactly as recorded, from front to back(including null packets). The playout stream may not be paused, reversed, or played at anything other than 1x speed.
